MY STYLE: TERRENCE MAIDEN

What do you do?
“I lead a commercial real estate development and investment company. Our strategy is focused on urban revitalization and community-centered projects. Locally, we are working to reimagine and redevelop the former Red Bird Mall in southern Dallas. I also co-manage a nonprofit with my twin brother Tim called Two Wins Foundation.”

Who is your style icon?
“Actor, writer, hip hop artist, and philanthropist, Common. I admire how what he wears exudes confidence, but not in a way that draws attention.”

How does your work influence what you wear?
“I’m most comfortable in a dress shirt and slacks, and will wear a blazer or sport coat when required. I rarely wear a tie.”

What inspires your style choices?
“People. I think about who I will be spending time with each day and what we’ll be doing.”

What do you never leave home without?
“My backpack. It’s not a fashion statement, but a necessity. I also keep a solid-colored blazer in the office. I never know when an important meeting may pop up.”

Do you have a go-to look?
“In the fall and winter, I am normally in a comfortable pair of slacks and button-down shirt, with a v-neck sweater on top. Regardless of the season, I am in a comfortable pair of dress sneakers, usually Cole Haan.”

How do you accessorize?
“My dress socks are typically unique, and I’ll often add a cool lapel pin to my blazer or suit jacket.”

Downtime look?
“I am typically in TCU gear or Nike workout clothes. I’ve also been adding more golf apparel as an option.”

Favorite stores?
“Nordstrom, Dillards, Nordstrom Rack, and Marshalls, as well as Harper & Jones for custom pieces.”
